| October and the start of the Fall Sailing Program are almost here! The weather is starting to break and the boats are in shape – so lets go sailing. Listed below are a number of sailing opportunities for FYC members and others in the sailing community. |

 Tuesday Night Cove Class
For our youngest sailors, The Tuesday Cove Class will meet from 3:30-5:00pm within an atmosphere of safety, fun, friends, and sailing. The boat this class will use is the Optimist Dingy, an eight-foot sailboat that over 150,000 kids from over 100 countries have learned to sail in. The United States Optimist Dingy Association (USODA) sets an age group of 8-15 years old for kids who sail this boat, but many children step into the boat at a slightly younger age. This group is targeted as the “Green-fleet” of the Optimist class, on the younger side and very new to sailing. « Back To Top

Thursday Night Learn to Race
Thursday evening classes, also from 3:30-5:00pm, will be the next step forward for junior sailors who want to learn how to race. Several races will be held each class and technique involving the basic components of racing will be discussed. An emphasis will be placed on sportsmanship and fair competition.

Private Group Lessons
Another new opportunity this fall is group sailing for 2-5 adults or juniors, available by appointment Tuesday through Saturday. The sailors may use the club J24 and will find the class to be highly flexible to the group’s preferences.

Private Lessons
Finally, for those sailors who aim to improve their skills within an environment of one-on-one coaching, private lessons are available on a scheduled basis. A reduced introductory rate will be available for the month of October.
