1. SET REALISTIC GOALS: It is safe to lose up to 1% body fat per month and 1 pound per week. If you are incorporating weight training in your exercise program, you can also lose inches. Set goals for 12 weeks, then set new goals for the next 12 weeks.
2. NEW EXERCISE PROGRAM: The Fitness Center offers exercise programming designed especially for you to help you reach your fitness goals and needs at the appropriate level.
3. SET SCHEDULED WORKOUTS: Rewrite your schedule to include 1 workout at least 3 times a week. When writing your agenda, set your workout as an appointment time, and don’t miss your appointment!
4. EAT CLEAN: Think healthy choices. Choose protein, vegetables and fruits over processed foods or fast foods. Chose the salad and baked potato rather than the burger and fries. Better choices add up to huge results. Splurge one meal on the weekend. Eat healthy items first then high fat and high calorie foods will be less appealing.
5. FOOD DIARY: Get a small journal so that you can record what you eat and what time you eat. This is a great tool to hold you accountable to eating better.
6. AVOID ALCOHOL: Alcohol consumption is the sure way to never losing weight, because the extra calories prevent weight loss. It takes 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound. If you avoid alcohol through the week, treat yourself with a glass of wine on the weekends.
7. EVERY 2-3 HOURS: Try to eat 5-6 small meals each day rather than going for long periods between eating. Going long hours between meals sets you up for unnecessary snacking and slows down your metabolism.
8. GIV E UP: Try giving up just one thing that you know could sabotage your fitness resolutions.
9. HYDRATE: Consume water all day rather than sugar filled drinks, they help you feel full and satisfied.
10. PROFESSIONAL HELP: A sure way to get on the right track this year is to consult a fitness professional.
